In the aftermath of OPERATION SINDOOR, INDIAN PRIME MINISTER MODI JI addressed the Nation, stating;
“INDIA will not tolerate terrorism. We have sent a clear message that those who harm our citizens will be held accountable.”
INDIAN PM MODI JI also emphasized the importance of national unity and the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Following the operation, Prime Minister Modi Ji monitored the situation closely, cancelling his planned trip. He was briefed on the operation and its outcomes. In a subsequent all-party meeting on 8 May 2025, he emphasized the necessity of the strikes as a response to terrorism and sought political unity on national security issues.
These leaders oversaw the coordination of the Indian Armed Forces during the operation.
Military Actions in Various Regions
Jammu and Kashmir
Following the operation, Pakistan launched retaliatory artillery and drone strikes along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. At least number of civilians were killed in Indian-controlled Kashmir, and others in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Indian Army responded with countermeasures, including shooting down a Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet in Pampore, Pulwama.
Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab
While specific details on military actions in Rajasthan and Gujarat are limited, the Indian Armed Forces maintained heightened alert levels in these regions. In Punjab, an armed drone from Pakistan targeted a civilian area in Firozpur, resulting in injuries to a family. Operation Sindoor was a significant military operation launched by India in May 2025 in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Below is a detailed account of the operation, including timelines, key statements, and strategic actions taken.
In retaliation, India initiated Operation Sindoor on the night of 6–7 May 2025. The operation lasted 30-45 minutes and involved 15-25 missile strikes targeting nine locations in Pakistani-administered Kashmir and Pakistan’s Punjab province. Indian Air Force Rafale jets equipped with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs were reportedly used. The targets included Bahawalpur, Muridke, Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru, Bagh, Kotli, Sialkot, and Muzaffarabad. The strikes aimed at terrorist infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
