GOOGLE, ADANI, AIRTEL – 1 GW DATA CENTER OF US $ 15 BILLION AT VIZAG
Google, in a strategic partnership with AdaniConneX (a joint venture of the Adani Group) and Bharti Airtel, is building a massive $15 billion (USD) AI and data center hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh.
Construction officially broke ground on the project, which aims to establish Visakhapatnam as a major global destination for technology and artificial intelligence.
Key Project Details
- Investment: A $15 billion (USD) commitment over a 5-year period (2026–2030), making it one of Google’s largest FDI projects outside the US.
- Campus & Capacity: A gigawatt-scale data center (starting at \(1\) GW) built across 600 acres in areas like Tarluvada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli.
- Green Energy: Powered entirely by clean energy sources, with co-investments in new transmission lines, renewable generation, and energy storage.
- Connectivity: A joint undertaking featuring a new international subsea cable landing station and expansive intra/inter-city fiber networks.
Partner Roles
- Google: Driving the $15 billion investment and providing its full, cutting-edge AI stack, including advanced compute capabilities for high-demand AI workloads.
- AdaniConneX: Acting as the primary infrastructure developer for the hyperscale data center campus and managing the clean energy integration.
- Airtel: Building the crucial digital backbone, including the subsea intra gateway and extensive /inter-city fiber networks
